Cross-check: Coast to Coast route description on National Trails . The walk is taken from that page, checked 12 October 2026. Miles on our line are measured between these ends on the imported path. Where a walking guide uses the same two ends, its miles are from walkcoasttocoast.co.uk, also checked 12 October 2026.

The walk

The path crosses Richmond Bridge, passes Easby Abbey, and follows the Swale under the A1(M) at Thornbrough and on through Catterick Bridge, Bolton-on-Swale, and Danby Wiske. After the East Coast Main Line it does not cross the A19 on the old line. The approved route turns north to a bridge at Black Swan, then south into Ingleby Arncliffe and Ingleby Cross. On our line this is 28.9 miles (46.4 km), with 460 m (about 1,510 ft) of climb. A walking guide does not publish this pair as one stage. It splits the valley at Danby Wiske and then at Osmotherley, and its next stage starts at Osmotherley rather than at Ingleby Cross.
