The walk
From Frank's Bridge the path climbs through Hartley, passes the old quarries, and leaves the bridleway at Faraday Gill for Nine Standards Rigg. It continues south over Benty Batts, then a track drops through Whitsun Dale beside the beck, crosses at Park Bridge, and meets the B6270 into Keld. On our line this is 11.7 miles (18.8 km), with 630 m (about 2,070 ft) of climb. A walking guide measures the same two villages as 10.9 miles (17.5 km) and 649 m (about 2,130 ft).

Section 6: Kirkby Stephen to Keld overview
The ground
- Lanes, a bridleway onto open fell, a summit, then a track beside the beck.
One moorland summit, then a dale. Shorter than the Shap moor, and the clear high point is Nine Standards Rigg. The official route does go to the rigg.
