Cross-check: Coast to Coast route description on National Trails . The walk is taken from that page, checked 12 October 2026. Miles on our line are measured between these ends on the imported path. Where a walking guide uses the same two ends, its miles are from walkcoasttocoast.co.uk, also checked 12 October 2026.

The walk

The path follows the Esk by stepping stones into Egton Bridge, then an old toll road to Grosmont. It crosses the A169, drops through Littlebeck to Falling Foss, and crosses the moor to High Hawsker. At Maw Wyke Hole it joins the England Coast Path and follows it south into Robin Hood's Bay, down through the village to the foreshore. On our line this is 19.5 miles (31.4 km), with 850 m (about 2,790 ft) of climb. A walking guide's last stage starts at Grosmont, which is part of the way along this section, so that stage is not the full length.
